What a sad/ happy day!

Today is Amanda’s first day of Kindergarten.  She was so super excited to go!

I on the other hand have mixed feelings about this.  You know when you have a house full or little kids always wanting your attention, you sometimes daydream about the day when all your kids will be in school and you’ll have a few hours to yourself, finally!  You never think that!?!  Well, I used to think about it a lot when my kids were younger.

Now that it’s here, I don’t know what to think.

I know several of you out there have no sympathy for me.  But really, I thought I’d be super excited for this day to come.  Now that it’s here, I really miss my kids!

I cried when I got to the car, after dropping Amanda off.  She was so ready to go.  She’s gotten so big in her 5 years of life.  It’s so sad to see your own kids grow up and not need you as much anymore.

Here’s Amanda sporting her strawberry outfit and her princess backpack!

Amanda looked so big, until I saw some of her classmates!  Some of the kids are already 6 years old and will be turning 7 before the end of the school year.  She looked so small next to them.

So, what did I do while all my kids were at school!?!  I exercised a while, now I’m blogging and once done with this, I’ll drive up to the school early and exercise some more!  I won’t be exercising everyday, but most days I’ll try to for at least a bit.  There’s also cleaning, de-cluttering, crafting, sewing, weeding, shopping, and I’m sure every once in awhile I might go back to bed!

For those of you with little ones still at home, who may be daydreaming of all their kids being in school.  Don’t wish for it too much, these kids grow up way too fast.

Have a great week everyone!

  1. I know exactly what you mean. And then before you know it, one goes off to college and there’s one less in the house. So sad, but at the same time you are very excited for them and their new adventures.

  2. I have sympathy for you! No matter how much they drive us nuts sometimes, having our kids grow up is traumatic! Seriously! My youngest will be going to pre-school 2 days a week this year, which I know is not the same, but I am still feeling a little bit forlorn about it!

Your little Amanda looks adorable …I bet she is loving being in school!
